If you are a manager or director find an executive kindred spirit at least two levels up.

Asking for help can be tougher than it seems.  Asking for help may feel odd.  It feels odd to be asked as well, an honor, but odd.

Most folks want to help others (please spend 13 minutes with Amanda Palmer and her Ted Talk on the art of asking), the issue is usually time, help your potential mentor make the time commitment and oddness go away.  Breakfasts, lunches, dinners, coffee?  And . . . you pick up the tab, it's worth the investment!

Make the time issue go away and you have a mentor.
